In your anthology of Vitos, past and present, that were part of the New York fabric, how could you leave out VITO BATTISTA of the NYC Taxpayers Party?

To my recollection, this self-proclaimed raucous Spokesperson for the City‘s taxpayers and licensed Architect by profession, ran for Mayor at least twice. He also undoubtedly holds the pre-TV sound bite record for City Hall/Plaza News Conferences and Announcements. To some of these events, the pugnacious Mr.Battista added his own particular flair by doing such things as wearing a Sandwich Board to proclaiming the plight of the taxpayers in a Wooden Barrel.

These antics would surely guarantee Vito the Voice a featured picture in the News, Post, Mirror or Journal American and if not that, a place in Taxpayer Heaven. So, Henry, unless you wish to risk a possible fate of wandering about the Heavens or the Netherworld for eternity in a Sandwich Board and/or a Wooden Barrel, I suggest you find some way to make amends to the Missing Vito.

As you are probably aware, the NY Daily News reported yesterday that former Judge Ed Rappaport (fondly remembered by Brooklyn practitioners as "King Edward" when he was on the bench) is going to talk to the Brooklyn DA's office this week to see if he can "work a deal" for Clarence Norman where he would "sing".
I am sure what tunes Mr. Norman has planned to "sing" have a number of people in this county quite nervous.

    Very nice column. As for:
". . . was the easy victory of Warren G. Harding of Ohio, thought byhistorians to be America's worst President," at least Harding can now finally be rid of that label.
