"Vicarious NOT Victorious"

These are the responses to my August 3 article, "Congress Adopts $287B Transportation Bill. Incidentally, It Abolishes Vicarious Liability For Those Who Lease and Rent Automobiles, Something New York State Had Failed to Do." Thanks to all, please continue to provide us with your feedback.

  1. Good article, thanks, as ever, and gratifying to know that one of your betes-noires is being settled

  2. Have the leasing companies not claimed that vicarious liability has made their New York rates so high? Let us see whether the rates come down when the transportation bill takes effect. I'm waiting . . .

Well reasoned and well written. As an alumnus of Gettysburg College, federal sovereignty wasn't the only issue settled at Gettysburg. This being my "over complication" of your earlier simplification. All the best!

  4. Your column on Silver.Silver is extremely hard to figure out. This
leasing matter and worse the commuter tax fiasco are only two examples of strange positions that hurt people in
NY.Silver is a good man generally but I think that he has some blind spots =as do most of us--.The difference is that he is the Speaker and he needs to be like
Caesars wife..I do not think that he meets that standard..If we get a
Democratic Governor I see problems looming as they may clash...And it is one thing to block a Governor from an opposing party but the scene will be explosive if they are both Democrats..My years in Albany make me wonderif there will
ever be peace up there. The fact is that they really need a 12 year limitation on terms ..I know that the eight year limitation has caused some problems in the City. However on the balance 12 years would be a good idea in Albany!!!!We probaly should increase 8 to 12 in NYC
