This way, we will also get the voters against congestion pricing, who live in Bayside and Staten Island, to move away. Free health care means psychiatric care for all those angry talk radio white males!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13496923.post-5301496761002494742009-04-01T14:51:00.000-04:002009-04-01T14:51:00.000-04:00Why does the MTA always claim they are broke? Since moving to Brooklyn in 2001 the most noticeable changes in the subway system seem to be the elimination of tellers, the elimination of the tokens, and the fare hikes soon to be up to $2.50. I remember when the MTA was caught a few years ago keeping two sets of books, one to display to the public and the media, and the other a secret version showing the MTA had a surplus of cash. In this new economy we cannot continue to fund this type of ruthless corruption. It only takes a few minutes to jot off an email or write a letter to your local congressman and/or senator. In this way you can do more in a few minutes than you could through years of complaining to people that cannot do anything about it.

HappyDogNYC.comAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13496923.post-68153094385044427842009-03-26T14:12:00.000-04:002009-03-26T14:12:00.000-04:00Henry..."chorus of frogs" is perfect...it would be...Henry..."chorus of frogs" is perfect...it would be more gallant of you to congratulate Paul rather than Nancy.
While the cost of establishing payment over our old bridges would be nuts, I'm not sure keeping the boros free keeps them together under the idea of a city-wide approach but it's a nostalgic approach that rings true.

NYCivic works best for me when it advocates as well as explains. This year I hope to make your fundraiser...maybe you can get Hank Morris to contribute

MHAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13496923.post-74607075050300802082009-03-26T14:11:00.000-04:002009-03-26T14:11:00.000-04:00Terrific analysis of the unfairness of bridge toll...Terrific analysis of the unfairness of bridge tolls - of course the rich live in Manhattan (no tolls until they go to their weekend places) - but! to discourage people from driving into Manhattan where someday the traffic is just going to stop dead, tolls are not such a bad idea - raising subway fares IS outrageous.
MMAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13496923.post-54172476201748172372009-03-26T14:09:00.000-04:002009-03-26T14:09:00.000-04:00or how about blaming NY Civic's anti-toll nonsens...or how about blaming NY Civic's anti-toll nonsensical diatribes? Just try to tell the good folks Upstate that they will pay more for gasoline so the Downstaters can pay less for mass transit. A vehicle registration fee increase for residents of counties served by the MTA may be politically more palpable but brings in too little money.
We have a Hobson’s choice. Under these circumstances your steadfast commitment to treating bridges like roadways seems anachronistic. If bridges between the boroughs are just roadways shouldn’t we remove tolls on the Henry Hudson and RFK bridges? Are roadways connecting boroughs through tunnels under your view not roadways which it is OK to place tolls on or should we remove these tolls too for ideological consistency’s?

F.L.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13496923.post-32269699132295584542009-03-26T14:07:00.000-04:002009-03-26T14:07:00.000-04:00PLEASE Henry !! You position on East River tolls is incomprehensible even if one digs just meekly below the surface of your comments I don't want to call it diatribe against the tolls ..... here in the REAL world Henry those tolls make all kinds of sense .... if you are going to to patriotic about the right of FREE passage well how do you equate that only with CARS Henry and if you are so worried about the POOR well they own even less cars AND the subway fare increases will be most debilitating for them ...... I and the majority of NYers don't have cars why isn't our FREE passage by subway or bus important to you .. you sound like a spokesman for one of the outdated bankrupt auto companies .... PLEASE rethink your position and publicly re-cant you will be a far better respected Observer for doing so .....

APAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
